Mike Ostaffe is a hard-working husband and father of three who is serving the residents of Osseo Area Schools as ISD 279 School Board Director and current Board Chair. I understand that Parents have many choices for their childrens’ education, and I want to ensure that ISD 279 provides an excellent and equitable educational experience for each and every student in our district, making it the district of choice for the families who live in our community.

Our District serves over 21,000 students, employees 3000+ licensed and other staff, and spends close to $350,000,000 every year. Fiscal responsibility is the key to earning the trust of the taxpayers and building a solid foundation from which to educate our children. You can’t plan for the future when you are scrambling for funds every year. With the financial concerns during this pandemic, my MBA in Finance and background in working with large companies and start-ups gives me the skills and experience to make good decisions with your tax dollars.  Programs must have specific goals and measurable results. I won’t spend the money just because we have it and an idea sounds or feels good.

How we open and operate schools in 2020-21 is a huge concern to students, parents, teachers, staff, and residents across our district. More here.

Please read more about me and my main concerns on my About page and read more about the current issues on my blog.
